De Tres Esplets
(DTE)
De Tres Esplets is a very early ripening fig that comes from Spain. It is said that it can produce up to three crops in a season. It is small, dark, and has a larger eye, and its shape is almost round which makes it look like a Rondo de Bordeaux fig. DTE is a must have for early production in a short climates. It is one of the most productive figs for me. It does not split like RdB. The flavor is melon like, but each crop in the season tastes a bit different. An interesting taste for a fig, not a rich berry taste like RdB, and nothing like a Mount Etna Type fig.. With such good early production, continued production, and a nice flavor, it makes this fig a definite winner in short seasons.
