Leaves from Bass' Favorite fig often are in different shapes commonly spade or 3 lobed and are normally extremely large.
Bass' Favorite
(BF) aka (BFF)
Bass' Favorite Fig is one of my favorite figs too!
Impressively large figs and leaves, great tasting berry flavored fig with a complex flavor, a thin skin, and larger eye.
I love this fig. Some people say it is difficult to grow. Probably because of the larger eye, making it spoil more often and the large prolific fruit that slows down the growth of the overall tree. Most people think it is the exact same fig as Calderona. a fig from Spain in Monserrat Pon's fig collection. Bassem Samaan from Trees of Joy introduced this fig and it has been known as Bass' Favorite and that is where I obtained my copy. It starts ripening late September into early October for me. I normally bring one of these BF trees in every year to keep ripening figs in the Winter under LED lights because they are that good. Indoors I can allow them to dry more on the tree and the amazing complex flavor changes and becomes more tropical tasting reminiscent of a passion fruit, but I prefer this fig not to dry but with the more syrupy texture and flavors. No matter which name or how you grow it, this fig it is wonderfully good and easily one of my best tasting figs.
Bass' Favorite is a large fig it has a thin skin and can have a large ostiole.
