Col de Dame
(CdD)
In French "Col de Dame" means: "Collar of the lady".
These Col de Dame type figs have a long elegant neck and an extremely rich thick pulp that is sweet.
They have a do not have a super sweet syrup pulp.
I received these fig with these names and spellings.
The spelling differ by the original country of origin, French for Col de Dame, and Spain for Coll de Dama.

Coll de Dama Gegantina
Coll de Dama Roja
Col de Dame Gris
Col de Dame Noir
Col de Dame Blanc
Col de Dame Rimada Reverted (not a true CdD)
I do not own Col de Dame Rimada
Coll de Dama Gegantina
(CdD Gega)
A Spanish variety, green skinned with thick red jammy pulp, pleasant berry flavor, dries well on tree and can develop a nice flavored chewy skin. Similar to CdD Blanc, but grows a larger figs there fore I think it is a bit better. Gegantina figs are the largest of the Col de Dame varieties.
Coll de Dama Rojo
(CdD -Rojo)
A Spanish variety fig , it's name Rojo meaning red for this fig has the most intense red pulp of any of the Col de Dame varieties.
It tastes 22%, better because of the red pulp color. : ) All CdD are great tasting figs.
Coll de Dama Rojo is my most productive Col de Dama type fig.

Coll de Dama Rojo is my most productive Col de Dama type fig.
Coll de Dame Rojo is by far my most productive Col de Dame type fig.
CdD Roja fig leaf, you can see on the right it is a very prolific variety.
Col de Dame Gris
aka Col de Dame Grise (CdD - Gris)
This French variety, Gris meaning grey has a greenish and purplish like skin that appears grey in some areas. It grows well and fruits well, some people say it is slightly more prolific than other Col de Dames, just like other CdD figs it is a wonderful tasting fig. It is not nearly as productive as my Coll de Dama Rojo.
Col de Dame Gris when allowed to dry on the tree creates an even more dense and rich taste. It is already an incredible dense and rich fig when not slightly dried. It does start to get a little bit of a dried fig flavor which is not always my favorite. But the added sweetness and chewy skin make it incredibly enjoyable.
Col de Dame Noir
The Col de Dame figs are all very similar in taste and texture. The main differences are in skin color, pulp color, or the size of the figs. Like the darker purple skin? Choose a Col de Dame Noir. Green skin choose Blanc, Really Red Pulp choose Rojo, a little larger choose Gegantina.
Col de Dame Noir
Col de Dame Noir has a nice color change as it ripens.
Col de Dame Rimada Reverted
(CDD - RR)
Many people claim to have great figs like a Col de Dame. I received this fig as a "Col de Dame Rimada Reverted" . This is a delicious and productive berry flavored fig. I don't believe it belongs to the Col de Dame family but it has a sweet, strawberry jam like pulp and an great flavor and often has a long neck similar to a Col de Dame. Col de Dame means “collar of a lady” in French for the fig’s longer neck. Some figs from the same mother tree have a longer neck, some have had a shorted neck. There are photos of a variety of shapes and colors that have come from the same tree. Rimada Reverted means that this variety had stripes, but lost the striping and no longer has the striped design on the figs skin. Many of the Rimada or stripped figs can lose their stripes. This is not the same as a col de dame blanc or any of my other Col de Dame varieties. This is the name the fig came to me with. It is one wonderful fig, not as dense a Col de Dames and appears to be earlier producer than true Col de Dame varieties. It makes me think the fruit is more similar to an Improved LSU in its shape, more of a berry taste. Whatever this figs true name is, it is a good tasting fig.
Col de Dame Rimada Reverted
Rimanda means striped - Reverted means it has returned to growing without stripes on the fig.
Jammy, sweet, productive, great tasting smaller fig, some with a longer neck, but as you can see fig shape varies even though all the figs are from the same tree. Tastes great, positive it is not really from the CDD family. It ripens earlier and does not always have a long neck. What ever this figs true name is, it is still a great fig. I have not culled it, because I like it even though I don't know its proper name.
